Use University of Missouri-Columbia on first reference. Mizzou is acceptable on second reference. Do not use Columbia when referring to the University of Missouri unless the campus is included with other UM System campuses.
University of Missouri-Kansas City
Use University of Missouri-Kansas City on first reference. UMKC is acceptable on second reference.
Missouri University of Science and Technology
Use Missouri University of Science and Technology on first reference. Note: The “and” is spelled out on first reference. Missouri S&T is preferred on second reference. S&T is also acceptable on subsequent references.
University of Missouri-St. Louis
Use University of Missouri-St. Louis on first reference. UMSL is acceptable on second reference.

Campus names use a hyphen, not an en-dash or em-dash with no space before or after the hyphen.
When listing the campuses in a series, list them in alphabetical order by geographic location with UM System last as it serves all geographic locations: Mizzou, UMKC, Missouri S&T, UMSL and UM System.
When referring to the geographic location of the four campuses, or to emphasize the university’s statewide reach, city names may be substituted: Columbia, Kansas City, Rolla and St. Louis. Always list the geographic locations of the four campuses in alphabetical order.
