Lowercase the names of classes: freshman (note the singular usage), sophomore, junior, senior, graduate (not post-graduate), doctoral. 

Note: Freshman is singular; freshmen is plural.

Example: He is a graduate student. Mary is a doctoral student, but James is a sophomore.
