Painting the M, or Paint the M, is an annual tradition dating back to 1927 when the rocks were first placed on the hill on the east side of Faurot Field. Each August, incoming students repaint the rocks white during the event that gives them a chance to meet their peers and get their first taste of Mizzou traditions.
